Roman, the leading brand in premium porcelain and ceramic tiles in Indonesia, introduces the Designer Tile: Archipelago Series, inspired by the rich culture and natural landscapes of the Indonesian archipelago. This collection is officially launched at Arch:ID 2025, an architectural industry exhibition themed Performative Archipelagos.
In a booth designed with artistic flair, Roman presents a modern interpretation of local values. The Archipelago Series ceramic tile collection becomes a medium to express cultural identity and spatial character.
Targeting interior designers, architects, and property owners seeking strong character in their projects, this series consists of six collections featuring small mosaic formats, allowing for more personal and creative design exploration.
“The Archipelago Series is a ceramic tile collection inspired by the beauty of Indonesia’s culture, craftsmanship, and nature. These products are designed to meet the needs of the public and design professionals and are predicted to become an increasingly popular trend,” said Budiyani Sudartha, Sales General Manager of PT Satya Langgeng Sentosa (Roman).
Each collection carries a unique story. One of them, dSelayar, features 2.5×10 cm precut tiles in 30×30 cm sheets, reflecting the serene vibe of Selayar Island in South Sulawesi. Its soft, refreshing colors create a soothing tropical ambiance. Available in Gading, Embun, and Purwa.
Next, dGili in 3.75×15 cm precut tiles (30×30 cm sheets) is inspired by the charming trio of small islands—Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno, and Gili Air—off the northwest coast of Lombok. The collection combines bright tones with a rustic, exotic look, evoking a vibrant tropical atmosphere. Available in pastel colors: Karang, Purwa, Angkasa, and Embun.
dAlor, with 5×5 cm precut tiles (30×30 cm sheets), brings an interpretation of traditional ikat weaving from Alor Island and the island’s volcanic textures, offering a distinct visual depth. Color choices: Puteh, Laguna, Bara, Samudra, and Rimba.
Three other collections—dManika, dAruna, and dTegel—come in porcelain tile format with 1 cm thickness. dManika features 10×10 cm mosaic tiles; the name derives from Sanskrit, meaning “jewel” or “precious ornament.” This product comes in flat Surface with natural hues from the archipelago (Samudra, Rimba, Bara, Senja, Puteh).
For subway tile enthusiasts, Roman presents dAruna in 6×30 cm format. Meaning “dawn light,” it symbolizes hope and new beginnings, perfect for adding a fresh feel to interiors. Available in Bara, Purwa, Samudra, Embun, and Senja.
To round out the series, dTegel comes in 20×20 cm format with aesthetics reminiscent of colonial-era cement tiles, yet infused with modern palettes and designs—ideal for both vintage and contemporary spaces. This collection features 30 motifs that can be mixed and matched for artistic compositions.
As a forward-looking industry player, Roman understands the importance of design that is not only beautiful but also sustainable. Inspired by ongoing dialogues with architects and interior designers, Roman continues to innovate with products that respond to climate change, cultural evolution, and environmental stewardship.
“Insights from these professionals enrich Roman’s creative process, enabling us to develop products that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also relevant to the times,” Budiyani concluded.
At the same event, Roman also showcases large-format tiles from the RomanGranit Xtra and RomanGranit Grande lines, including sizes 80×80 cm, 100×100 cm, and 120×60 cm. These larger sizes create a seamless and spacious look, perfect for prestigious residential and commercial projects.
